TEA operates under two seperate grants, the Drug Free Communities (DFC) Grant funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and the Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant (SPF SIG) funded by the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Office of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention (ADAP).
Under the DFC Grant, TEA focus' it's priorities on preventing Prescription Drug abuse in Van Buren County. TEA does this by working closely with doctors and pharmacists to ensure the safeguard of potentially dangerous prescription drugs as defined by SAMHSA. TEA provides free lockable medicine boxes to qualified households. These qualifications are posted at all Van Buren County pharmacies.

TEA utilizes the SPF SIG Grant to address Underage Drinking in Van Buren County. TEA is implementing a mass media campaign, Project Northland In-School training to 6-8 grade students in Clinton, Shirley, and South Side Schools, and other environmental strategies proven effective in reducing underage drinking.
